Your data stays yours
Waarning runs in your browser. No accounts, no cookies, no analytics, no ads, no tracking.
TL;DR: Waarning runs in your browser. It has no accounts, no cookies, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Your location is only used — with your explicit consent — to fetch nearby warnings. You can optionally turn on "save & sync", which mirrors your own checks to an anonymous device record you control. Precise location is never saved or synced.
What we do not do
- No cookies (first- or third-party).
- No analytics, no fingerprinting, no tracking pixels, no ad SDKs.
- No user accounts and no login.
- No server-side logging of your IP address or browsing activity.
- No selling or sharing of personal data — there is nothing to sell.
Location — only with your consent
- Precise location — your browser's geolocation. We reverse-geocode to a city name only; coordinates are kept in memory for the session and never persisted.
- Approximate (IP-based) — your IP is sent to ipwho.is to estimate your city. The estimate (not your IP) is saved in your browser.
- Manual search — you type a city name; a geocoding query is sent to Open-Meteo. The chosen city is saved in your browser.
- No location — global feeds only. No location request of any kind.
Third-party data providers
To display live warnings, your browser fetches data directly from these public APIs. See Sources for the full list and their privacy policies.
Storage & sync
Default storage is localStorage in your browser under keys waarning.consent.v1, waarning.settings.v1, waarning.scan.history.v1, waarning.streak.v1 and waarning.device.v1.
If you choose "Enable save & sync", the app mirrors your product checks and saved items to a record in a database you or your operator controls, keyed to a random anonymous device identifier — never your name, IP, or precise location. Turning sync off or deleting the device record removes that server-side data.
